“Everyone Needs a Coach” — Bill Gates

by Florian Brody

The whole world has changed due to Covid-19. Each of us has been impacted differently. Whether you are happy with your work or make a change in your career, are fully employed, or are seeking new opportunities, the big questions come up for all of us.

Whether you head back to the office or looking for new opportunities, now is the best time to invest in yourself. And while a new car or at least a new set of golf clubs may be nice, taking a step towards a better relationship with yourself towards success and long-term happiness will be a much better investment.

Working with a coach will be the best investment in your career and your life you have made since going to University. It’s an investment in time, effort and yes, also money. You will get to know someone much better who is close to you: you yourself. In today’s’ work environment, nothing is more important than knowing yourself, your competencies, capabilities, as well as your ideas, wishes, and perspectives. And if you’re working with a headhunter or internal HR to redefine your position or find a new one, it is absolutely essential.

Thomas Zahlten, a leading executive recruiter in the DACH Area of Europe, that’s Germany, Austria, and Switzerland teamed up with Florian Brody, an international transformational coach based in Silicon Valley.

“More and more companies look to hire highly competent professionals and executives with know-how in a wide range of domains to work in fields that are yet to be delineated and named,” says Thomas Zahlten. “We look for professionals with a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to re-invent themselves. We want every one of our clients to work with a coach.”

Your professional capabilities are essential, be it technology, business, marketing, or innovation management.

  • But how about your relationship to your work?
  • Does it fit your lifestyle?
  • Do you actually enjoy what you’re doing?

“Everybody talks about work/life balance as if you would get more of one and less of the other, depending on how you plan your days.  This does not make sense for two reasons – old-fashioned balance scales worked on the principle of equal weight on both sides. So that cannot be the model.  Even more important: as long as work is not part of your life and life not part of your work, you will have a hard time reaching your next step on your personal path. “Don’t even think work/life balance,” says Florian Brody, “Think Work-Life Integration as a way to perceive yourself in the world. I am working with professionals and executives exploring the next step on their personal path.”

AI in Headhunting: What has changed since 2024

AI is on everyone's lips, but similar to new software for New Work in 2013, not everything that has "AI" on it makes sense, even if it's sold to you. At BREADHUNTER, we've always been very tech-savvy, as these little helpers save us a lot of time to focus on what's essential: candidate search and interviews. Even back in 2013, when we used the paperless office and many SAS tools to be more efficient than our colleagues with the fancy offices in Vienna's first district, their Excel spreadsheets, and botched 90s workflows that required an armada of assistants and cheaply paid recruiters. What has changed in the past year? ( see article on AI from 2024 .) Copilot and Gemini are well integrated into our workflows, with us using Gemini more often. What does AI do for us in headhunting? Summarize emails from projects Transcribe video calls during candidate interviews to then provide the client with a short video and summary of the conversation, along with the C...

The Untapped Power of Connection: Why Business Networks Are Essential

In today's fast-paced, interconnected world, success in business isn't just about what you know, but who you know. While skills and experience are undeniably crucial, the power of a strong business network can be the catalyst that propels your career or company to new heights. Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur, a fresh graduate, or somewhere in between, cultivating and nurturing your network is an investment that yields significant returns. Let's explore why business networks are so vital: 1. Expanding Opportunities: Networks are gateways to opportunities you might never otherwise encounter. They expose you to potential clients, partners, investors, mentors, and even job opportunities that aren't advertised publicly. A well-connected individual is privy to inside information, early access to projects, and introductions to key decision-makers. These connections can provide opportunities for collaborations, funding, and career advancements that would be conside...
